OLD STURBRIDGE VILLAGE, Sturbridge, Massachusetts
CHC was retained in 2007 to recruit a new President/CEO for New England’s most beloved living history museum. A nationwide search led CHC right back to Rhode Island where Jim Donahue, President of the CVS Highlander Charter School and Bradford Dunn Institute in Providence was selected from a field of six stellar finalists. Jim officially assumed his new post as CEO of Old Sturbridge Village in July 2007.

CHC was asked to undertake the search for a new Development team for OSV in June 2007 and within three months recruited Megan Panek from American Heart Association to the position of Senior Director of Development and Aaron McGarry from Chase Consulting, LLC to the position of Director of Development.


LIFESPAN, Providence, Rhode Island
Beginning in January of 2006, CHC directed the executive search for a new Senior Vice President for Development for Lifespan, Rhode Island’s largest health system. Since June of 2006, Mark Cummings, previously Associate Vice President, Annual Programs and Marketing at Children’s Hospital, Boston; Director of Development at UMass Medical Center; and Director of Operations at Dana Farber Cancer Institute has been leading the philanthropy initiatives for Lifespan.


ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER, Boston, Massachusetts
CHC was retained to recruit a Director of Individual Giving, a new position created in anticipation of the Museum’s most ambitious capital campaign in its history. Carolyn Vaughan quickly emerged as the candidate of choice. Most recently a major gifts officer at Berklee College of Music, Carolyn was appointed to the post at the Gardner Museum in April 2007. Drawing on her prior experience as Director of Development at the Museum of Mexico Foundation where she oversaw fundraising for four museums, Carolyn has joined a powerful development team already in place at the Gardner where she is responsible for managing the front-line fund-raising team and carrying a significant portfolio of potential major gift donors.


MOUNT IDA COLLEGE, Newton, Massachusetts
Mount Ida College retained the Executive Search Services of Copley Harris Company to recruit a new Vice President for Development in October 2006. Mount Ida College appointed Mr. Christopher S. Mosher as the new Vice President for Development on May 16, 2007. Chris most recently served as the Vice President of Development at Quincy Medical Center, Quincy, MA and previously held senior development positions at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Embry Riddle Aeronautics University and Northeastern University.


LAHEY CLINIC, Burlington, Massachusetts
Copley Harris Company, Inc. was retained in July 2005 by the Philanthropy Office at Lahey Clinic to recruit a new Major Gifts Officer for Lahey North. Tracey Geary assumed her new position at Lahey Clinic in February 2006 coming from her post as the Director of Development and Community Relations at Stephens Community Healthcare Foundation in Norway, Maine.


New England Aquarium, Boston, Massachusetts
When Bud Ris was appointed CEO of the New England Aquarium in mid-2005, his mandate from the Board was to reaffirm and strengthen the Aquarium’s role as an influential education institution in Boston and international leader in marine science and conservation. When Bud had the opportunity to hire a new Vice President for Development, he contacted Copley Harris to recruit for this pivotal position resulting in Michael Hammerschmidt’s appointment in September 2006. Michael has 25 plus years experience in the field, with long tenure at each position he has held, including 17+ years in higher education. For the past seven years he had served as a senior consultant for a national consulting firm. Due to the combination of the leadership team and the Trustees at the NEAq, the organization is successfully emerging from a financial crisis with a newly articulated vision, enhancing programs and exhibits, reducing debt, and improving the infrastructure of its 37 year-old facility.
