Senior Associate
Jim Kraus has nearly 30 years of development experience and currently
serves as Senior Associate for Copley Harris Company, Inc. and is
Vice President of Development/Senior Consultant to the New England
Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Boston, Massachusetts. For the
past ten years, Jim served as President of North Shore Medical Center
Foundation and Senior Vice President for Development of the North
Shore Medical Centerin Salem, Massachusetts, part of the Partners
Healthcare System. Jim formed the NSMC Foundation and is credited
with increasing philanthropic revenue from $1 million to more than
$5.5 million annually, successfully completed three capital campaigns,
managing a 15-member staff and a 30-member Foundation Board of Directors,
and producing the most effective planned giving program among the
hospitals within the Partners Healthcare System.Ê Prior to NSMC,
Jim served as Vice President for Development and Community Affairs
at Central Maine Healthcare Corporation in Lewiston, Maine.
Jim has an accomplished track record of establishing high performing
philanthropy programs, recruiting talented staff and board members
to partner in the achievement of program goals, increasing endowments
through effective planned giving programs, and expanding donor and
board involvement, while often serving as the chief community relations
officer. He has been a frequent speaker at both regional and national
fundraising conferences.
Prior to his roles leading the philanthropy programs at major healthcare
institutions, Jim spent eleven years in higher education development,
holding various positions at his alma mater, Saint MichaelÕs College
in Vermont, leading that institution through its first capital campaign.
In addition to his professional work, Jim has also held numerous
community volunteer positions Êserving various Chambers of Commerce,
Rotary Clubs, and the Newburyport Harbor Commission. ÊJim resides
in Newburyport, MA and received his B.A. from Saint MichaelÕs College
and M.A. from George Washington University. ÊHe is accredited by
CFRE International and the Certified Financial Planner Board of
Standards, Inc.
