Senior Associate
Betsy Riggs Fermano is a professional fundraising executive with
eighteen years of experience and leadership in resource development
for non-profit institutions. She has worked extensively with local,
regional and national corporate and foundation philanthropic communities,
and has considerable expertise in corporate fundraising. In addition
to strong skills in strategic planning, program and staff management,
board development, and communications, Betsy has proven success
in building major donor programs, new business development, corporate
sponsorship and cause-related marketing.
Betsy recently was Vice President of New Business Development
at Lois Paul & Partners, a national high tech public relations firm.
At Lois Paul & Partners, Betsy developed and grew the agency's new
business initiative, managing all new business and sales activities
across offices in Boston, Austin and San Francisco. She was responsible
for cultivating new corporate client opportunities, including lead
generation programs, proactive outreach, client qualification, and
the development and delivery of sales strategies, pitches, presentations
and proposals.
Prior to LP&P, Betsy was Director of Development at The Computer
Museum in Boston. She has served as a development executive for
local non-profit organizations and national campaigns including
The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation. While running her
own fundraising consulting business, Betsy worked with numerous
academic, cultural and social service organizations.
Before her career in development, Betsy spent nearly a decade as
a teacher and administrator in education and human services. She
graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in Early Childhood
Education and from the University of Chicago Graduate School of
Education with a Masters of Science in Teaching and Elementary Education.
She is active in many community and professional organizations.
